Well, it's been a pretty crazy week so far. I woke up at 3 a.m. Monday morning with stomach flu. After Stu and I spent all of Monday traveling from doctor to doctor, I was admitted Monday afternoon to the ER. They gave me a couple of IV bags to rehydrate and I immediately felt much better. We had an appointment with the OB that afternoon and she sent me back over to the hospital to be readmitted to completely rehydrate. I spent the night in Labor and Delivery and had a total of five IV bags by the end of the day.
The next morning we were planning on checking out and heading home with the possibility of coming back that evening to begin the induction process. Instead of sending me home, they asked if I wanted to start things up then. Since I was feeling much better we decided to go for it. Once I moved into the Labor and Delivery room, the doctor ordered that we skip a few steps and start right away on pitocin. After a few hours, I ordered an epidural and they started pumping up the pitocin to increase the contractions. Lawson did not react well to this. His heart rate would drop during each contraction so they immediately stopped the pitocin and got me ready for a c-section. His heart rate stabilized and within 15 minutes he was born and looked beautiful.
We spent a couple of days recovering in the hospital and came home Christmas afternoon with the best Christmas present ever.
